Internet under control

January 4th, 2008 · No Comments

I was once introducing Lawrence Lessig’s book - Code and the other law of cyberspace in a seminar, because this book inspired me on how Internet is the perfect place for government and business to control everything…

We know the situation is getting worse slowly, but I couldn’t imagine and somehow believe that 2008 is the year of CONTROL.

Australia is the number one here, as TechCrunch put it: following China in Censoring the Internet, and Japan, a country with a lot of self-censorship, their government suggests regulating the Internet by 2010.

Both government use the excuse of “preventing child pornography”, but many had suggested that it is not effective in a economical sense as it give a false sense of “security” to parents while it is very easy for teenager to by-pass the censorship filter. Anyway, we will see …. 2008…. (and here is 2007 Privacy International Report….)
